Matador Student-Athletes of the Week - Jan. 9
Each week during the 2022-23 season, GoMatadors.com selects two Matadors as Student-Athletes of the Week. This week, we highlight Women's Basketball's Jordyn Jackson and Men's Volleyball's Kyle Hobus for their performances on the court.
Jordyn Jackson, Women's Basketball
Jordyn Jackson averaged 13.0 points, 5.0 assists, and 4.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Matadors. She scored 12 points, dished out five assists and grabbed four rebounds in CSUN's 57-55 road victory over Long Beach State on Thursday. Jackson then scored a team-high 14 points in the Matadors' 53-52 loss to UC Riverside. Jackson added five assists and five rebounds against the Highlanders.
With 26 points last week, Jackson raised her career point total to 937 points and is closing in on becoming the 14th CSUN player to score 1,000 points in a career.
Kyle Hobus, Men's Volleyball
Kyle Hobus was CSUN's kills leader in two of three matches at the UCSB Asics Invitational last week. In the Matadors' three matches, the redshirt junior averaged a team-high 3.67 kills per set while hitting .288 on 73 swings along with four aces, seven digs and six blocks.
Hobus led all hitters with 15 kills on .583 hitting as CSUN picked up its first win against Lincoln Memorial. He committed just a single hitting error on 24 attacks, while also adding three blocks, one ace and one dig in the straight-set win over the Railsplitters.
