Tour Detail
The fuel cell power plant debuted on campus in 2007 and provides 8,333,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, which equals 18 percent of the total campus usage. In addition to the power plant, CSUN has a subtropical rain forest on campus. The 9,000 gallons of daily wastewater from the fuel cell is collected and used to irrigate the rain forest, while the trees help absorb carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
