Matador Student-Athletes of the Week - Feb. 13
Each week during the 2022-23 season, GoMatadors.com selects two Matadors as Student-Athletes of the Week. This week, we highlight Sotball's Alexis Martinez and Men's Volleyball's Kyle Hobus for their individual performances on the diamond and on the court.
Alexis Martinez, Softball
Alexis Martinez went 2-1 last week in the circle for the Matadors, winning both games at the SDSU Kickoff Classic. Martinez threw 17.2 of the 36 innings during the tournament for the Matadors, striking out 10. In addition to winning twice, she posted a complete-game 7-hitter in CSUN's 5-0 victory over Memphis.
Kyle Hobus, Men's Volleyball
Redshirt junior Kyle Hobus led CSUN to a trio of wins on the East Coast, putting down 46 kills (3.83 kps) on .255 hitting which included a career-high .889 (8-0-9) hitting clip against FDU. Hobus, who led CSUN with 54 points, also added 11 digs, 10 blocks, three aces and three assists as CSUN improved to 8-5 on the season.
