On December 16, 2022, the NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions ruled that the CSUN men's basketball team's former head men's basketball coach and two former assistant men's basketball coaches impermissibly arranged visits for prospective student-athletes to CSUN's campus. During the visits they also arranged for impermissible recruiting inducements.

Immediately upon learning of potential violations in late April 2021, CSUN placed the former head men's basketball coach and the two former assistant coaches on paid administrative leave.  CSUN fully cooperated with Enforcement and the Committee on Infractions and worked to resolve the violation through the COI's Summary Disposition Report process.

CSUN is currently appealing the penalties imposed by the Committee on Infractions to the NCAA Division I Infractions Appeals Committee. Currently, the penalties are three years of probation from December 16, 2022, through December 15, 2025; a financial penalty; a prohibition on unofficial visits in men's basketball for one week during the 2022-23 academic year; a prohibition on recruiting communication in men's basketball for one week during the 2022-23 academic year; public reprimand and censure.

CSUN welcomes the conclusion of this investigation and is eager to move forward in a positive direction.
