"It's time, the game of basketball has been extremely good to me. I'm forever grateful for the players, parents, and coaches that have let me be a small part of their lives," said Johnson. "I'm looking forward to what's next, which will be driving my three beautiful granddaughters to karate, soccer, volleyball, dance, and many other activities. Again, thank you!"

Johnson led the Matadors to a record of 14-48, 7-29 in the Big West Conference in his two seasons.

"We thank Coach Johnson for his dedication to Matador Athletics. We celebrate his storied career and support his decision to focus on his family," said CSUN Director of Athletics Shawn Chin-Farrell.

CSUN will proceed immediately with a national search for a new men's basketball head coach with the continued commitment to creating a competitive men's basketball program and supporting the success of our student-athletes.
