Matador Student-Athletes of the Week - Nov. 28
Each week during the 2022-23 season, GoMatadors.com selects two Matadors as Student-Athletes of the Week. This week, we highlight women's volleyball's Nicole Nevarez and Men's Basketball's Dionte Bostick for their performances on the court.
Nicole Nevarez, Women's Volleyball
Senior outside hitter Nicole Nevarez concluded her CSUN career last week as one of the top hitters in program history. With a team-high 318 kills this season, Nevarez has moved up into 12th place on the all-time CSUN kills list with 1,079. She had 12 kills and eight digs in the season finale against Hawai'i on Saturday giving her career totals of 1,079 kills and 842 digs in 117 matches and 436 sets in her career. She now ranks eighth in the CSUN all-time top-10 in career attacks (3,298) and is fifth in the CSUN Rally Scoring era top-10 in solo blocks (50), seventh in attacks and ninth in kills. With her ninth kill against UC Irvine earlier this season (Oct. 29), she became the 14th player in program history to reach 1,000 career kills.
Dionte Bostick, Men's Basketball
Dionte Bostick helped lead the Matadors offensively last week in CSUN's two games at the SoCal Challenge in San Juan Capistrano. Bostick scored a game-high 24 points in the Matadors' one-point loss to Tennessee State (74-73). He would have a well-rounded game in an 82-66 setback to Central Michigan as Bostick posted eight rebounds, six assists and seven points. Bostick is averaging a team-best 15.6 points and 3.0 assists in his first season with CSUN.
