Matador Student-Athletes of the Week - Dec. 13
Each week during the 2022-23 season, GoMatadors.com selects two Matadors as Student-Athletes of the Week. This week, we highlight Women's Basketball's Tess Amundsen and Men's Basketball's De'Sean Allen-Eikens for their performances on the court.
Tess Amundsen, Women's Basketball
Tess Amundsen averaged 22.5 points in a 1-1 week for CSUN. Amundsen scored 17 at the University of San Diego on Dec. 6. Amundsen posted a season-high 28 points at Seattle University on Dec. 10. She was 9-of-15 from the floor and 6-of-10 from three-point range against the Redhawks.
Amundsen shot 16-of-26 from the field (61.5%) and 9-of-15 (60%) from beyond the three-point arc for the week. The 6-0 forward added five rebounds, one steal, and one block for the Matadors. Her efforts resulted in Amundsen being named Big West Player of the Week for the second time on Dec. 12.
De'Sean Allen-Eikens, Men's BasketballDe'Sean Allen-Eikens helped lead the Matadors' offense in two games last week. Allen-Eikens recorded his first double-double as a Matador in a 65-56 loss at Fresno State on Wednesday as he finished with 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting and 12 rebounds.
The 6-6 forward nearly pulled off another double-double in CSUN's 70-63 defeat to Northern Colorado on Saturday. Allen-Eikens would pour in 11 points and eight rebounds against the Bears at Premier America Credit Union Arena. For the week, he averaged 15.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game.
